Manhattan and Perkins+Will expressed gratitude to trade partners for their continued progress and commitment to the schedule despite a rainy spring. This marks a significant milestone in a transformative design-build project that is redefining the future of athletics in Athens.<br \/>\n<iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PVdGdm3AOEY?si=WzXjpiZt-laZaMX4\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"width: 0px;overflow: hidden;line-height: 0\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEveryone has worked hard to make the necessary adjustments to stay on schedule, allowing the track teams to begin enjoying their new home,\u201d said Jason McFadden, Manhattan Construction Company Vice President. \u201cThe beam that was part of the event will become part of the grandstand seating structure.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This ambitious relocation and expansion effort is designed to deliver a state-of-the-art track and field facility capable of hosting Southeastern Conference Championships and elite NCAA competitions.<\/p>\n<h2>A New Home for Champions<\/h2>\n<p>This event comes at a time of celebration for UGA\u2019s track and field program. The women\u2019s team recently won its first-ever NCAA Outdoor National Championship, a historic achievement that highlights the program\u2019s growing prominence. Head Coach Caryl Smith Gilbert was also named SEC Women\u2019s Coach of the Year, reflecting the team\u2019s excellence and momentum on the national stage.<\/p>\n<p>Soon, these champions will move into a new home worthy of their accomplishments\u2014a facility designed and built for performance, precision, and pride.<\/p>\n<h2>Behind the Scenes: Building Big<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>50,000 linear feet of building conduit \u2014 nearly 40 laps around a standard track \u2014 power every scoreboard, speaker, and light.<\/li>\n<li>1,920 bleacher seats \u2014 enough to stretch over half a mile end-to-end.<\/li>\n<li>165,500 square feet of track surfacing \u2014 equivalent to nearly three football fields, with striping that would stretch 124 miles.<\/li>\n<li>65,000 linear feet of underground conduit \u2014 more than 12 miles of hidden infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>400 light fixtures and 1,200 linear feet of light cove \u2014 illuminating the complex with Olympic-level brilliance.<\/li>\n<li>196,667 cubic yards of earth moved \u2014 enough to fill 59 Olympic-sized swimming pools.<\/li>\n<li>6,890 cubic yards of concrete \u2014 enough to build a sidewalk from Atlanta to Chattanooga.<\/li>\n<li>7,800 square feet of walkway and 3,200 linear feet of handrail \u2014 paving the way and ensuring safety.<\/li>\n<li>130-foot-tall lighting towers \u2014 taller than a 12-story building and visible from over a mile away.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n<p>As the project enters its final stages, excitement keeps growing. Construction is on track to finish in December.
