In their desire to protect tenants and meet Florida’s heightened hurricane requirements, The Ritz Carlton closed for 60 days during the summer of 2013 for renovation. After removing windows, 25’-tall and 10’-wide steel structures were secured and welded into place without damaging the hotel’s furnishings. This provided the single-span windows the structure required to meet the new Windloads and impact rating. The EFCO windows comprised of hundreds of extruded pieces to match the profile of the outdated windows, creating a glazier’s equivalent to a White Mountain jigsaw puzzle experience.
