Cantera Concrete Company wins two AGCOK “Build Oklahoma” awards
TULSA, OKLAHOMA – Oklahoma-based Cantera Construction Company has been honored by the Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGCOK) with two “Build Oklahoma” awards for projects completed in 2020. AGCOK’s awards program represents the best of the best commercial building projects in the state. The awards were presented to team members at the AGC of Oklahoma’s annual banquet on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Embassy Suites Norman Hotel & Conference Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Cantera Construction Company received “Build Oklahoma” honors for construction of the following projects:
ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City Oklahoma in the “Division 3 | $2 – $5 million” category.
Cantera’s work on this project included the addition of 47,000 square feet of slab on grade concrete and multiple elevated decks to accommodate upper deck concourse areas, suites, bleacher additions, media hospitality room, press areas, VIP lounge and new restrooms. The project had more than 5,000 cubic yards of concrete and 700,000 pounds of reinforcing steel. With the completed addition, ASA Hall of Fame Stadium can now claim that they are home to the largest softball complex in the world. Timberlake Construction Company, Inc. was the construction manager, and Triad Design Group was the architect.
Cox Business Center Renovation in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the “Division 3 | $2 – $5 million” category.
The project included demolition and renovation of the original arena to lower level storage and a 40,000-square-foot ballroom. A three-story clear lobby entrance was also added with a new exterior concrete plaza. Following the demolition of the existing arena bowl, Cantera installed 80 deep vibratory cased piers, and associated foundations inside the existing building while not interfering with the Cox Business Center operations. Cantera also installed the concrete for the new exterior plaza. Cantera worked with Tulsa Vision Builders on this project, a joint venture between Manhattan Construction Company and Flintco. MATRIX Architects Engineers Planners, Inc. provided the design.
