Texas Tech University Womble Football Center & South End Zone Renovation

Lubbock, Texas

Manhattan Construction is proud to have partnered in delivering the transformative renovation and expansion of Jones AT&T Stadium’s South End Zone and the Dustin R. Womble Football Center at Texas Tech University. This $240 million project marks the single-largest investment in Texas Tech Athletics history, redefining the athlete and fan experience for generations to come.

South End Zone: Monumental Design & Fan Experience

The project began with the complete demolition and removal of the stadium’s south end, followed by the construction of a state-of-the-art, four-story structure. The new South End Zone features:

  • Field Level: Home and visiting locker rooms, direct field access, and a 7,200 sq. ft. club space fostering fan-player interaction.
  • Main Concourse: Modernized entrances, loge boxes, and over 6,000 sq. ft. of strategic planning space, all connected by a skybridge to position-specific meeting rooms.
  • Coaches’ Offices & Premium Suites: Dedicated spaces for coaching staff, film review, and luxury suite options for fans.
  • Fan Amenities: Deluxe suites, hospitality boxes, programmable LED lighting for choreographed shows, three large video displays, five ribbon boards, and a redesigned Double T scoreboard.

Dustin R. Womble Football Center: Athlete Development & Innovation

Connected to the stadium via a bridge, the two-story Womble Football Center is a hub for player development and wellness, featuring:

  • Scovell Family Locker Room: Cutting-edge facilities for athletes.
  • Strength & Conditioning: A 15,000 sq. ft. weight room and expanded training spaces.
  • Sports Medicine & Recovery: Hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, cold plunges, sensory deprivation beds, and a recovery suite.
  • Technology Integration: A walkthrough room with a 70-foot LED screen—the largest of its kind nationwide—for digital play simulation.
  • Player & Alumni Lounges: Two-story lounge with a podcast studio, spa, alumni patio, and the “Uncommon Man” barber shop.

Construction Excellence & Community Impact

Manhattan Construction, in partnership with Lee Lewis Construction and Populous, delivered the project in record time—just 21 months—minimizing disruption to campus life and athletics. The project team, comprised largely of Texas Tech alumni, ensured the renovation honored tradition while future-proofing the facility for evolving NCAA requirements and NIL opportunities.
