Previously known as a small bingo hall, WinStar’s landmark transformation gained the facility its current status as the World’s Largest Casino, and the resort continues to expand.
The WinStar events center, hotel, and parking garage is a multi-asset project for the Chickasaw Nation in Thackerville, Oklahoma. This new construction and expansion comprise just under one million square feet of new space. The post-tensioned concrete hotel features a new 304-room, 15-story tower with a pool, sauna and steam room on the lower two levels assuring a relaxing stay for guests. A defining feature of the new addition is the 6500-seat event center for theater and concert productions, referred to as Lucas Oil Live. The auditorium provides general and club-style seating that includes VIP, concessions, six escalators, a restaurant, bars, a kitchen with club catering and theater support areas. The steel frame event center is 76′ tall with 15′ trusses that span the auditorium. The stage floor is wood with a large 60′ proscenium wall, theatre rigging trusses and kinetic light fixtures. The exterior façade is 200′ long with a curved negative 8-degree pitch and a 30′ tall curtain glass wall that extends the east elevation from the hotel to the parking garage. An illuminated polycarbonate panel wall and metal skin oversee the hardscape east plaza connected to existing parking areas. A steel frame glass-enclosed pedestrian bridge spans from the event center to the six-story parking garage that will provide 1206 parking spaces.
The existing facility remained open during construction of this large-scale project, and Manhattan maintained a detailed plan to ensure that guest and staff safety was the number one priority throughout the landmark project.
