The WinStar Hardened Data Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to safeguard data in the face of Oklahoma’s formidable weather challenges. This EF4 tornado-rated data center, commissioned by the Chickasaw Nation Department of Commerce, houses the Nation’s critical servers and opens its secure doors to external businesses and entities seeking top-tier server space.
Spanning an impressive 16,000 square feet, the west and south sides of the building are shielded by a 20-foot-tall cast-in-place concrete wall. This secure enclosure lies in a mechanical plaza housing a 1,750KW backup generator, a 2,500KVA transformer, multiple condensing units, and other cutting-edge equipment. The mechanical plaza has been designed to allow for future capacity expansion, demonstrating a commitment to staying ahead of technological demands. The front section of the center presents a sleek and expandable steel building, housing offices, staff areas, and essential mechanical and electrical support spaces.
Notably, upon its inauguration, this facility instantly doubled the Chickasaw Nation’s storage capability, including 50 IT cabinets. The Data Center’s connectivity extends beyond its walls, forming a crucial link with two other Chickasaw-owned data centers. With redundant backup systems, this interconnected network strategically ensures uninterrupted data storage, even in severe weather, engineered to withstand winds of up to 200 mph or extended power outages.
