Ground breaking ceremony held for Welcome Center, new Bedre’ Chocolates Factory
Davis, Oklahoma – The Chickasaw Nation held a groundbreaking ceremony this week for two new facilities at the southwest corner of Interstate-35 and State Highway 7 at Exit 55 in Davis, Okla.
Manhattan Construction Co. has been selected to build the project that includes a Chickasaw Nation Welcome Center as well as a new Bedré Chocolate factory. Bedré, Oklahoma’s only chocolate factory, provides chocolate products to several high-end retail clients nationwide. The new facility will replace the factory currently located in Paul’s Valley and provide space for expansion of the Bedré line.
The new Welcome Center will provide information about the many attractions in the Chickasaw Nation, including the Chickasaw Cultural Center, Turner Falls, and Boggy Depot Park.
It will take approximately nine months to build the two new facilities, which feature a gift shop, children’s playground, dog park. The new factory and welcome center expect up to 25,000 visitors a week.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday, October 17th.
