Manhattan Construction Company wins two ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter “Excellence in Construction” awards

TAMPA, FLORIDA – The Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Florida Gulf Coast Chapter has honored Manhattan Construction Company with two “Excellence in Construction” (EIC) awards.

The EIC awards recognize outstanding projects built by members of the association. The awards were presented at the 2021 ABC Construction Awards Ceremony held Friday, May 7, at the Hilton Downtown in Tampa, Florida.

Manhattan Construction Company won “Excellence In Construction” awards for construction of the:

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport In-Line Baggage Check Inspection System Project in Clearwater, Florida, in the “Institutional $5 – $10 million” category.

Designed by Michael Baker International and Master Consulting Engineers, the scope of work included expanding the existing back of house area to install a new baggage handling system at Terminal A, renovations to existing ticket offices as well as a new exterior slab and steel frame canopy above a new baggage carousel. The project was completed in a fully operational airport with no interruptions to the flow of baggage returns and flight services.

The Florida Aquarium Channelview Pavilion in Tampa, Florida, in the “Special Projects Under $10 million” category.

The Florida Aquarium Channelview Pavilion Project provides beneficial year-round use of the pavilion level observation deck. Designed by BDG Architects and Walter P. Moore, the scope of work included a new rooftop terrace with operable louvers, animal pool canopies, walkway canopies and a PV solar array.
