Manhattan Construction Receives Seven Honors at ABC Florida Gulf Coast’s Excellence In Construction Event
The Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) Florida Gulf Coast Chapter honored Manhattan Construction with seven awards. Manhattan Construction representatives were on hand to receive the awards at the 2013 Excellence in Construction Awards Program held on Friday, April 19th 2013 at the Hilton Hotel in Downtown Tampa.

ABC presented Manhattan Construction as the winner of the 2013 Eagle Award in the “Other Construction” $2 to $100 million category for the Boston Red Sox Spring Training Facility – jetBlue Park. Manhattan Construction built the 120-acre spring training facility which included a 12,000-seat stadium and six full practice fields in Fort Myers, Florida. The stadium portion included an iconic “green monster” left field wall and a manual scoreboard from Fenway Park. The project is LEED® Certified. The project architect was Populous, Inc.

Manhattan Construction was also awarded the 2013 Eagle Award in the Residential/Multi-Family up to $100 million category for Moorings Park Buildings O, P, and Q in Naples, Florida. The project consisted of three buildings ranging from three to five stories at the Moorings Park retirement community in Naples, Florida. It added 29 new custom condo style independent living units over ground floor covered parking and a five-star restaurant. The project architect was Burt Hill/Pollock Krieg Architects.

Additionally, Manhattan won another 2013 Eagle Award in the Institutional $5 to $10 million category for the construction of the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex in Sarasota, Florida. Manhattan Construction demolished the existing facility and constructed a new 45,000-square-foot community center and pool that achieved LEED Silver Certification. The project architect was Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative.

Manhattan was recognized with a 2013 Merit Award for the Veterans Administration Ambulatory / Outpatient Surgical Center in Cape Coral, Florida. Manhattan Construction completed the 222,988-square-foot outpatient facility that was designed to accommodate advanced healthcare for United States Veterans. The project architect was HOK, Inc.

Manhattan was also recognized with a 2013 Merit Award for the Osceola County Courthouse Square Expansion Phase I Parking Garage in Kissimmee, Florida. Manhattan Construction erected the eight-story, 830-space parking garage adjacent to the existing county buildings in the government center complex. The project architect was Heery International, Inc.

Manhattan was awarded a 2013 Merit Award for Florida Gulf Coast University Academic Building 8 in Fort Myers, Florida. Included in the project was a four-story, 69,000-square foot building that is occupied by the College of Health Professions and a three-level, 750-car parking garage. The project architect was Harvard Jolly / Kahler Slater– Joint Venture.

Lastly, Manhattan was honored with another 2013 Merit Award for the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples in Naples, Florida. The 32,000-square-foot, two-story building includes 12 interactive exhibit galleries as well as an outdoor amphitheater. The project is LEED Gold certified. The architect was Burke Houge Mills, Inc.
