The Defense Intelligence Analysis Center (DIAC) Addition is a new 470,365 square foot multi-story, multi-purpose Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) administrative and operations building adjacent to the existing DIAC facility on Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC. This facility provides critical space to support the agency’s mission requirements in the collection and analysis of national military intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance data, as well as providing a secure workplace to reduce vulnerability to its uniquely skilled workforce.
The design incorporates force protection/antiterrorism (FP/AT) measures including a blast-resistant structure and building envelope. The building operates on a full backup power system around the clock with n+2 redundancy on critical building systems. It is equipped with raised access flooring and cable trays throughout to accommodate comprehensive data, telecommunication, and power service requirements.
This project received a prestigious design award from the Washington, D.C. “Committee of 100.” The committee was impressed with the unique integration of security features within the design, creating a beautiful yet well-protected facility. Additional recognition includes the Washington Building Congress – 2005 Craftsmanship Award for Curtainwall.
